As fans have probably noticed, Carrie Underwood has been keeping sort of quiet thus far in 2018. As reported by Rare Country in recent months, Carrie has been through a lot since falling outside of her home back in November, during which she suffered injuries to both her wrist and her face. Other than a handful of posts updating fans on her surgeries and her subsequent recovery, we haven’t heard much from the singer since then.

Yet, on Jan. 29, she came to fans on Twitter with quite a confession.

The cops finally caught her!

“Well, it happened today,” Carrie said in a tweet on the morning of Jan. 29. “After 18 years, I can no longer say I’ve never been pulled over for speeding. I feel so ashamed! I may or may not have cried in my car after the cop let me go.”

The minor run-in with the law comes just days before the self-avoid “rule follower” will be thrust back into the spotlight come Super Bowl Sunday, when the seven time Grammy Award-winner and multi-platinum recording artist’s new song, “The Champion,” will open NBC’s broadcast of Super Bowl LII on Feb. 4. The song, which features Ludacris, was released earlier this month and will also be used in the network’s upcoming Olympic coverage.

With its inspirational lyrics like: “I’ve been working my whole life, and now it’s do or die / I am invincible / Unbreakable / Unstoppable / Unshakeable / They knock me down / I get up again,” the song is sure to resonate with many looking for some inspiration in their lives at the moment.

Heck, days before the song will be in front of millions during the Super Bowl, it is already making quite an impression on the “Billboard” charts, with the anthem making its Hot 100s debut at No. 47 and launching at No. 3 on the Digital Song Sales chart with 61,000 sold. In fact, “Billboard” reports that the song earned Carrie her best Digital Song Sales rank in more than a decade, since the No. 2-peaking “I’ll Stand by You” in 2007.

Carrie says, “When we were writing ‘The Champion,’ our main focus was to celebrate athletes at the top of their game, but we also wanted the song to resonate with people in their everyday lives. We hope the lyrics will inspire people to push themselves beyond their limits to conquer anything they are trying to accomplish or overcome. There’s a champion in every single one of us.”

And while Carrie sounds like she is bummed about getting caught by the cops, there is no doubt that most of us have been there and done that at some point in their lives. How about you? When did you get your last traffic ticket? When was the last time you got caught by one of those darn red light cameras?

Maybe if we all share our own stories it will make Carrie feel a little better.
