Jake Owen hits No. 1 this week with “I Was Jack (You Were Diane),” a song that recreates John Mellencamp’s 1982 classic “Jack & Diane.” He told us “It’s a brilliant way of writing the story of all of us as American kids growing up listening to that song about the two American kids growing up in the heartland, and translating [it] into how we lived that song. There’s not been enough songs about recreating a song that’s already been done like that. And I think it was pretty cool.”
He even got pretty emotional and nostalgic on Instagram with a post [More]

He just released a 9-minute long video for his newest song “I was Jack (You were Diane)” which is a rendition of John Cougar Mellencamp’s song “Jack and Diane” which was released in 1982. We’ve seen posts in the past from Jake about a song he wrote about being a single father, how hard it can be when you miss your child, etc. Pearl spends her time between her mom Lacey in south Florida, and of course dad Jake, who lives in Nashville.
But this week, Jake got to spend a special day with Pearl at her school – Jake made it to Daddy-Daughter day at her school where they had donuts and he said, “It was pretty awesome looking around at all the other Dads…being Dads.”

Jake Owen’s first show of 2018 was definitely a different experience for most. He didn’t come out with the full band or with a huge light show. He walked out on stage and started just chatting with the crowd. His parents were there for the whole show sitting front and center. He did about 45 minutes of acoustic songs and requests before his entire 12 person band came out. People would yell out songs and he would play them. He even through it back to OLD songs from his first two albums like “Green Banana’s” which was released over 7 years [More]
